John Hoard named Board Chair for Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic

The Neighborhood Legal Clinic (https://www.nclegalclinic.org/) board of directors recently elected John Hoard as Board Chair beginning in July 2017.  John has been involved with the clinic since 2005 serving as Treasurer for several years.  John’s commitment to the Clinic dates back to 2005 when he first went onto the board.  He believes strongly in its mission: “To promote justice through legal representation and legal education for our low income neighbors as a way of demonstrating Christ’s love.”

John remarked in a recent Clinic news article, “It’s an honor and privilege to be associated with this organization.”  John spends time each month with Executive Director Chris Purnell planning for board governance, reviewing financial issues and preparing for fund raisers sponsored by the Clinic each year.  John encourages everyone to donate to the Clinic and hopes that every lawyer can find time to volunteer at the Clinic at least once a year.  John further commented, “There are many opportunities for service at the Clinic.  This is in keeping with the expectations the Indiana Supreme Court has placed on our profession because it monitors our pro bono service hours each year.  As well, as leaders in this community we need to give back to make our communities places where lawyers are involved in providing justice for all,” said John.

The Clinic holds several fund raisers each year culminating in the Justice for All celebration.  “This year the Clinic’s holding its big fund raiser, Justice for All, on October 4,” John said.  Keep your eye out for more information at the Clinic’s website or follow it Clinic on Facebook and LinkedIn.
